Hi there, sorry to post off-topic, couldn't find any better way to ask this...

I am playing a U.S. version of Homm IV, I think it is only version 1.0. I download "Heroes 4 Original" style maps for this, and copy them into the Maps or Other Scenarios directories, but they never seem to show up on the map list once I select that folder.

I have searched the web and lots of places to download HOMM IV maps (including this one) but no discussions of how to install or load those maps.

Can anyone give me a few tips on how to get a downloaded map to show up on the "New Scenario" or "New Campaign" lists to play?

Thank you for reply, evgkuz! That is actually what I did, but the new maps don't show up. Only the original maps (Unhappy Times, Land of Our Fathers, 7th Voyage of Sinbad, End of the World etc.) show up when I click Scenario.

I have unzipped all the downloads and copied the .hfc files into both the "maps" and the "OtherScenarios" directory but they never show up.

Two potential issues... I didn't originally install the game into the default directory, I installed it into my C:\Games\Heroes Of Might and Magic IV directory... so maybe it is looking in the default?

Second is, I stopped playing the game for a year or so, and lent the CD to my brother who promptly lost it. So when I wanted to play again, I downloaded a no-cd crack somewhere... and now with that installed I can't seem to install any of the patches.

So I am playing on an original, 1.0, U.S, unpatchable version installed in a non-default directory. I guess that might have something to do with it.

Anyways, thanks for the reply, I will keep trying... want to play some of those awesome player-made maps!

You should download only maps of this type:
Heroes 4 original maps (version 1.0)

Maybe, you were downloading maps, that were the further version, than that you've got on your PC..

I have installed latest patch 3.58 WOG but I have real problems with file corruption saving and loading games. It seems to corrupt all the saved games AUTOSAVE and if you have tried saving as something else. Very annoying haven't been able to get in touch with anybody who can help!

When I run the install.exe file, the installation starts properly. It asks me about language, recommends me to change my system language settings and when i press Ok, the installation just closes and nothing else happens.

The enviroment:

latest drivers, DX, updates and stuff for my notebook
Sys. lang. and country - English, USA
both Cracked (extracted and cut copy) and normally installed version of HOMAM 3 complete

I tried to run it in most compatibility modes, as administrator and thru the "Troubleshoot compatibility" utility Windows provides (when I try run the install.exe through this, an error then pops up which says: Current [folder of HOMAM], Current [folder of HOMAM UPDATE], can't find files (*.wog) to install. If you have any, place them to the Update dir and so on, this doesn't happen when I run it normally or set the compatibility and run it again normally), but nothing helps. I can normally run the HOMAM on my system, but the very installation is the issue right now.

If You have any idea how to fix this bullshit, please e-mail me (jiri.komarek.cz@gmail.com) or let me know on my ICQ (190780956), I would definitelly appreciate some help on this one. I played WoG once and it was an awesome game. I'd like to try it again. I even tried to find an uploaded archive containing working HOMAM with WoG already installed in it but nothing so far. I know what the problem is now. It's not enough just to change language settings to English, you also have to change your location settings - change you country into GB or USA (works for me with USA). Then that installation won't advise you to change your language/country settings. Then will the installation start. GL and HF playing :-)
