Hey, Coyote, friend, be patient, it's not hard, read the comments, many players got passed it so you can also
first, choose artifact bonus so you'll get sword of justice or shield of lion, with the sword getting fire orb will be easy, with the shield defeating Baiqi will be easy, you can choose one
and then you can use lightning bolt to get orb of vulnerability, and then get into the sea
when you finally comes back to face Maudr in Day 2 , cast a fire wall in front of your wraith, and in round 2 cast a second one in front of the first one
as for hydras, master genies are indestructible creatures. learn offense first, and then 3995,1,1,1,1,1, wait, cast spells
about in round 2 you will have frenzy cast, or in round 1 better, whatever, this map's latest version(the one you download) is winnable, I've won three times

there is no way to defeat Maudr,or to kill all the hydras without loosing creatures(master genies)
P.S.i load the game after a battle and i have an extra artefact(Sword of Justice!!!!!!!!)

But if you got all+5 sword, and very unluckily, 33 level only gains 3 power,
then don't worry, you can still defeat Baiqi,
using armageddon first, then Quicksand, save points, one good sand at strategic hex is able to trap your enemy forever.
just hover, use ice bolt with water orb, spell points are just enough
Mench, use clone to hide yourself, let Mench's Azure dragons be the enemy's target
Sunwu, use sacrifice spell and just see his magical blind-all show
just enough, happy!

in the older version only Hans has a scholar sec. skill..., but i'm sacrificed my two hero(Aeris, and Confu) to free Hans and only Confu and Hans can hire in the tavern!:))
