Hint: Send out a hero at once to scout the immediate area for a lumberyard and
ore mine. You'll need these resources immediately to add buildings in your
first town. Wherever possible, turn down the offer of gold in a treasure chest
and take the experience for your hero instead. It's a quick, easy way to make
levels at no cost to your armies.
Hint: Note the combined armies of any particular hero type are not equal to
other types. A Sorceress' six potential armies are generally faster, weaker on
the offense, and can sustain less damage than Barbarian armies. Mix and match
armies among your different castle types if you dare; but beware that this
lowers morale, making the armies periodically freeze in combat.

For large and extra large maps-> Wizard, Warlock, Necromancer or Sorceres
For long games the final battle is between Wizard, Warlock and Necromancer
