You cant get attacked before you open the gates.
Try to get as strong as possible with Quests. i would recommend maximum 3 Herores, because on the ways often are events with attribute rewards, and its tilting if they go on youre scout heroes.
All Quests rewards you with armys.
A hundred of years ago two kingdoms on the banks of Azave river used to be rule as one. After the civil war the kingdom has been divided and the islands on the river got infested by the pirates who took advantage of the turmoil.
After you ascended to the throne of half of Azave your dream is to reunite the kingdom once again. However, it will not be an easy task since both sides of the river are heavily fortified and impossible to penetrate without spells like Dimension Door or Town Portal which have been lost long time ago.
There is some hope on the horizon though. On his deathbed, your father told you that if you manage to bring your family shield to his old ally living on other side of the river you will be able to bypass fortifications and defeat the northern kingdom and pirates alike.
Be careful though! The road to the other side goes through the labyrinth of dark tunnels patrolled by dragon lords Arlach, Dace and Shakti whose power cannot be matched by any of those who live on the surface.
Find a way to avoid the armies of dragon lords, exterminate the vermin pirates and reunite the kingdom. Then gather an army big enough to defeat a dragon queen Mutare who is the source of all evil in the Azave Kingdom. The future of your people is in your hands, don’t let them down.

The map is pretty balanced and AI players start with a lot more resources and immunity from bad events. It's made for multiplayer or singleplayer (or coop).
Hoards of invading socialists surround your lands seeking resources found within. Your mission is to solve the economic crisis, restore spellcasting (banned), then conquor all. No human has any advantage over other humans. AI players have (equally good) continual resource and creature boosts.
