Just walk the displayed path, no fight necessary.
Don't play the game in "Advanced" but in
"Champion" level.

First of all, I'd like to give him my congratulations for the fantastic adventure he realized - secondly, I need help with the very first map! How do I get the Centaur's Spear?! It's nowhere to be found!

Nothing to do. I can confirm Ketolous DOES NOT have the spear in his inventory.
It is a pity that this tiny mishap should ruin such an awesome map! :(

I would like to give this game high marks but I too meet the centaur Ketolous, he says a lot about the map and then says he will join but there is no "Spear of the Centaur" in his inventory. Disappointing!

I did not have a problem with the spear of the centaur. It was still in my possession when I finished this beautiful, highly entertaining map. No bugs or mistakes in this map, except the unexpected loss of the game when you attack the fairy dragons. O yes, one big mistake: the second map of this short campaign is missing. But this second map really was made, many years ago! It is named Arundel, second map of the campaign The adventures of Wren. I have the file in my downloads and I will (re)post it on this website under the original name

Spear indeed is disappearing - Dead Forest
I see it now, the separ is sometimes disappearing (the same problem I discovered somewhere else, in game Rise of an Empire of Heroes 2, near the Grumpy wizard). Solution: restart your game, save the game, run in 4 days to the centaur and control if the spear is present.
