Since all the other heroes are locked in, theoretically you could spend an infinite amount of time just sitting in your castle and gathering resources/an army, and then go and kill everyone.

That is true. However since this was my first map ever, i wanted to keep it somewhat simple. I was considering to have inferno town free roam to run around on the map - but I didn't. Perhaps I should change that
