Four small, isolated towns lay in a northern region with dense forests and rich ore and mineral deposits. They were separated by a large mountain range and had limited contact with each other. But all of this changed when they discovered a vast network of caves beneath the mountains. In the caverns lay treasures beyond imagining, as well as infernal guardians who jealously guarded their horde. The rulers of the four cities made war over these riches under the pretense of eliminating the demonic threat.
Notes: All towns are located on the surface level but must pass through the underground to reach each other. The center of the map has many relics guarded by demonic armies, and the corners have "mage rooms" housing spells and caster bonuses. (Barbarians receive 5000 xp instead of spells)
Author: John DiFool (USA), 19-12-2009 23:08 Solid, if unspectacular Fairly average-ish map, 4 enemies with all the travel being underground in a sort of wheel arrangement. There aren't any powerful guards protecting vital passageways (except for the center and the goodies therein), so you'll be seeing enemy AI action pretty early on (as I did).
No Tears of Asha, no quests, no external dwellings (I would have put some in the underground corners), minimal elevation changes. Good if you want a fairly quick rather freewheeling game.
Won in Month 6, Week 2, Day 7 as Sylvan. A solid 6 rating.
