Not sure it is intentional by the map maker, but it does make the map a bit easier with more troops in the beginning. I just put the entire combat on autoplay, it lasted for 4 hours.

You are probably using Badge of Courage. It blocks all mind spells, including blind. It's a known bug

There are many nice features in HotA which make playing LotR4 much more fun:
1. You can easily exchange artifacts between 2 heroes in town.
2. You will know how many more turns a spell will last during combat.
etc...
It will be a BIG fun if I can replay LotR4 with a Pirate hero as my main hero!

Can't get on the race with teal dude. Tried to get the save loaded with Heroes HD but it didn't work (of course). Hence the question - is there a tool with HOTA to "cheat" in the save game by removing the damn mermaid because i'm not really keen on starting all over again in SoD? FYI, you simply can't play this map under HotA.
For example:
Every Moria Lab Quest requires 1 Statue of Legion, under HotA, you can hardly create more than 1 Statue of Legion because many "Everflowing Crystal Cloak" which you suppose to collect in sea treasures are replaced by HotA artifacts...

Да, нужна ти е циклопскат а туника. И за късмет има план Б - провери в трезора (Heroes Bank Vault) който е близо до Grey Havens. Ако при теб Готмог се е бъгнал и не се е развил, а си е останал без замък - за съжаление няма да можеш да отвориш трезора :(. There is another issue though, because i cannot reach the ocean bottle at the bottom there... i guess you need to get there with boots of levitation, but right at the spot spawned some creatures so i cannot reach it. !!! Tha Map is "The Shadow of Death" and has not been tested with WoG, Era etc.
My recommendation is to play in the classic version of Heroes 3 The Shadow of Death.
Install:
Copy all files from the "Data" folder to [gamefolder]/Data.
If you use HoMM3 HD copy all _HD3_Data/Common files to [gamefolder]/_HD3_Data/Common.
HD mod can be downloaded here: https://sites.google.com/site/heroes3hd/eng/download
Note: If these data files already exist, back them up before copying
